Boat Overview

The Eelex 8000 is a 100% electric boat designed for sustainability. It features an electric motor that eliminates toxic fumes and disruptive noises, resulting in a minimal carbon footprint compared to fossil fuel engines. The hull is constructed from flax fabric and recycled PET, while the deck is covered in cork, enhancing both function and sustainability. The boat includes software to operate a built-in Sea Lab that collects environmental data, such as pH and oxygen levels.

Performance Specifications

The Eelex 8000 is engineered for high performance with a 225 kW motor and a 120 kWh battery capacity. It can achieve speeds of up to 35 knots and has a cruising speed of 20 knots.

Durability and Testing

Crafted in Sweden, the Eelex 8000 is built to withstand harsh conditions. It has been tested repeatedly in rough Swedish waters, capable of handling high winds, heavy rain, waves, and swells.

Range and Charging

With an industry-leading range of 100 nautical miles, the Eelex 8000 supports fast DC charging, allowing it to go from 0-100% in less than two and a half hours. The Juice Booster, awarded the German Design Award 2020, provides charging in a compact and safe mobile format, suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -25 to +45 degrees.

Design and Customization

The minimalist design and flexible configurations of the Eelex 8000 offer a customizable experience. Built with a modular system, it can be rearranged for various activities such as watersports, diving, fishing, and transportation. It features ample open areas and seating options, making it ideal for social gatherings.

With a loading capacity of over 800 kg, the Eelex 8000 accommodates adventure enthusiasts. You can transport mountain bikes, kayaks, or dive tanks. A system of struts and rails allows for easy securing of loads and rearranging of seats. The boat's design is distinctly Scandinavian, featuring clean lines inspired by the electric eel, combining software and hardware for seamless functionality. The interior is modular, made from durable and sustainable materials, with first-class technology and an earth-toned hull optimized for efficient navigation.

Updates

V3 Cooling System Upgrades

  1. New heat exchangers with titanium nitride coated tubes reducing the need for anodes that need to be changed frequently.

  2. More robust seawater pumps which are longer lasting and provide better self-priming.

  3. PWM controlled variable pump speed to match variations in demand to prolong the life of the pump, reduce noise, and reduce power consumption.

  4. CAN controlled pumps reducing the need for physical relays, making the system more robust and allowing for future OTA software updates which roll out improvements without the need for human intervention.

  5. A larger, more robust seawater strainer with larger sea cock to reduce clogging, allow more water flow and eliminate corrosion potential.

  6. Higher flow cooling with larger cooling lines to reduce heat buildup at higher speeds over longer distances.

  7. Simplified CAN Bus system to improve the overall system architecture, better utilize space, provide easier access to data logging for troubleshooting and make the system more reliable.

  8. New SW:

    1. Better thermal management with additional temperature sensors.

    2. Smoother speed derating based on over-temp conditions for a wider range of components.

    3. DC charging improvements to reduce charging interruptions.

  9. Replacement of the swim ladder with a unit which is more corrosion resistant.

  10. Bow eye reinforcement to prevent separation from the starboard plate under load.

  11. Sun awning socket reinforcement to prevent potential for damage in high winds.

  12. Addition of drainage lines for cubbies and areas where water can build up.

  13. Bilge outlet relocation to prevent sea water ingress through the bilge.
