Rolex Submariner (No Date) James Bond Submariner No Crown Guard Full Set Tropical Dial c1959

The Rolex Submariner 5508 is highly sought after because it combines historical importance, rarity, and classic aesthetics in a way few Submariners do. As an early no-crown-guard model with a slim small-crown case, it retains the elegant proportions of the earliest Submariners while serving as a transitional reference before Rolex moved to more modern crown-guard designs. Case: 37mm screw back case marked ll.58 (second quarter of 1958). Case is still clean with strong bevels and beefy lugs.

Dial: 100% original gilt dial with radium markers and hands and reacts appropriately with UV lighting. Dial is in original state with shiny lacquer and complete lume plots. Dial has never been touched up and is tropical which makes this even more collectible and rare. Hands are period correct flat hands with tritium lume and does not glow like the dial does (see pic provided)

Bezel: Original non-period correct aluminum "Long 5" insert (circa mid 60s) has faded to a beautiful blue hue and is still in excellent condition. The bezel ring is original as well.

Bracelet: 100% original Rolex rivet C&I bracelet dated 1977 and is in excellent 85% condition with no stretch.

Movement: caliber 1530 movement has been well taken care of and was last serviced a in May 2026.

Accessories: This beauty comes with an original Rolex inner box and its guarantee papers dated 1959 (correct for this watch) and a Rolex guarantee card pocket.
