Boat Description


This amazing Ketch has a storied history. She was built in Norway in 1934, then traveled from Norway to the Caribbean, to the West Coast, appeared in the movie "The Sea Gypsies" in 1978, and then was almost completely rebuilt starting in 2009 until today. The vessel has a current COI, tons of documents and communications between the USCG and the Naval Architect, drawings....all available upon request.



Rebuild and Modifications



  • Vessel has been almost completely rebuilt since 2009.

  • Vessel is owned in LLC and was ran as a charter with a limited amount of charters being performed.

  • Vessel was rebuilt with about 90% of the structure being replaced and a pilothouse added.

  • Collision bulkhead installed per USCG.

  • Motor was replaced with an Izuzu 6 cylinder about 2013.

  • 7kw New Yamaha generator added with only 100 hours.

  • New fuel tanks built and installed (1 aft and 2 wing tanks).

  • Deck was completely rebuilt including supports (made out of 1 inch marine ply, then fiberglassed and 1 inch of ipe hardwood deck added (Brazilian hardwood). All naval bronze fasteners (most of the metal onboard naval bronze).

  • Interior made of Sapele and installed by master carpenter.

  • All new electronics (B and H).

  • All new running and standing rigging.

  • Vessel was cold molded with 3 layers of marine plywood counter oriented, coated with West Systems, and the outside layer of planking is yellow cedar.

  • Rigging designed by Gordan Laco and made of Hempex almost entirely.

  • Only parts that are original are the keel, mast, a few of the ribs, some of the blocks.

  • Every 18 inches a steel plate installed and bolted to support/sandwich the ribs.

  • Bow stem and sprit replaced with locally sourced oak.



Systems and Amenities



  • All sanitation, galley, and electrical systems are new.

  • Galley completely new to this vessel. Microwave, gimbaled stove, copper sinks and cabinets, freezer box, and separate refrigerator.

  • 2 water tanks starboard and port totaling 100 gallons.

  • 1 grey water holding tank.

  • 1 black water holding tank.

  • All new electrical wiring, breakers, panels, etc.

  • 3 house batteries.

  • 1 cranking battery.

  • 1 genset battery.

  • Inverter charger.

  • The range with the fuel alone is about 1000 miles. (Must independently verify).

  • Lights are all LED.

  • Navigation lights are 24 Volt.



Sail and Safety Equipment



  • Sail inventory was new in 2010 and hasn't had much use. They have been stored and protected.

  • Anchor windlass is an original hand windlass from Glasgow.

  • 2 helm stations with complete electronics (excluding autopilot).

  • Hydraulic steering.

  • Argon filled windscreen glazing.

  • New VHF radio added.

  • New EPIRB added.

  • Possible slip transfer with application.

  • Viking life raft added new in 2014 and recertified each year.

  • 12 man Zodiac added in 2014 recertified each year.
