The Viking 74 represents over 60 years of boatbuilding expertise, establishing itself as the leading luxury sportfishing yacht between 70 and 80 feet. Following the introduction of the 82 Convertible, the Viking Yacht Company proudly presents the second-generation Viking 74.

Viking President and CEO Pat Healey emphasizes continuous improvement in boat design. The 74 Convertible follows the iconic Viking 72, aiming for similar top-end and cruising speeds.

Viking Design Manager David Wilson notes that the 74 is set to become the next speed king of the Viking fleet, with enhancements in efficiency through performance studies.

Computational Fluid Dynamics software aids in achieving performance goals, with aggressive strakes and chines for improved spray deflection and lift. The 74's length-to-beam ratio is optimized for ride quality.

Compared to the Gen I Viking 74 (2004-2008), which reached a top speed of 37 knots with twin 2000HP MTUs, the new model benefits from 2600HP MTUs and hull design improvements. It also offers the Advanced Viking Propulsion System (AVPS) to reduce hydrodynamic resistance.

Construction methods maximize strength and weight savings, with resin-infused hull and structural bulkheads. Light Resin Transfer Molding and various core materials enhance build quality and finish.

Cockpit and Flybridge

The cockpit measures 216 square feet, nearly 10 inches longer than the 72’s, featuring:
