FreeBird is a 1987 49' DeFever raised pilothouse trawler. She features twin Ford Lehman 135 HP main engines, a Westerbeke 15 kW generator, a Magnum 2,800 watt inverter, a fuel polishing system, a Side Power bowthruster, a Purasan blackwater treatment system, and an Intellian satellite TV system. The layout includes 2 staterooms and 2 heads, along with a raised pilothouse design. FreeBird is one of the rare 49' DeFever RPH models equipped with an engine room sea chest and is Great Loop capable.
From the teak swim platform, you enter the hardtop covered aftdeck via the transom gate. Once on the aftdeck, you can walk out either same-level side deck, step up the stainless steel & teak ladder to the flybridge, or walk into the salon via the double teak & glass doors. Inside the salon, you will find a lounge chair, ottoman, and end table to starboard, L-shaped seating with storage and a hi/lo folding teak table to port, and a countertop port forward. The galley is port forward, engine room access is forward, and the refrigerator/freezer, pantry, and side deck access door are starboard forward. Step up the starboard forward stairs to the raised pilothouse, where you find a bench seat and table port aft, side deck access doors on each side, stairs to the flybridge starboard aft, helm forward, and guest companionway stairs starboard forward. Step down the companionway to find the full-beam master stateroom amidships, guest head to port, and guest stateroom forward.
The headroom in the salon is 6'4", 6' on the flybridge, 6'4" on the aftdeck, 6'5" in the pilothouse, 7' in the guest stateroom, 6'9" in the guest head, 6'8" in the master stateroom, and 6'4" in the master stateroom shower. The master stateroom berth is 6'3" long, and the guest stateroom berths are 6'6" long on port and 7'1" long on starboard.
The height from the waterline to the top of the satellite TV dome is 21'6", 19'2" to the top of the Radar, and 14' with the Radar arch lowered.
FreeBird offers a full-beam master stateroom with a centerline queen size berth and an ensuite head with an enclosed shower amidships, and a guest stateroom forward with upper and lower single size berths. The guest head is to port and between the staterooms. The pilothouse seating and table convert into a double size berth as well.
The salon features a lounge chair, ottoman, and end table to starboard, L-shaped seating with storage and a hi/lo folding teak table to port, a countertop port forward, bound carpet over teak parquet sole, an aft window, double teak & glass doors aft, a bar with storage, opening side windows with blinds, and reading lights.
The galley is located port forward in the salon.
Dining space is available at the salon hi/lo folding teak table, pilothouse table, and the aftdeck table.
The full-beam master stateroom is amidships and features a centerline queen size berth with full storage underneath, bound carpet over teak parquet sole, 2 hanging lockers, storage drawers and cabinets, 2 portlights with curtains, nightstands, reading lights, a mirror, a Magnovox flat screen TV, and an ensuite head with an enclosed shower. There is a hanging locker in the guest companionway.
The guest stateroom is forward and offers 2 single size berths, a shelf, storage drawers, a cabinet, a hanging locker, 4 portlights with Peek-A-Boo brand shades, an overhead hatch, anchor chain locker access, reading lights, and bound carpet over teak parquet sole.
The guest head is to port and aft of the guest stateroom.
The raised pilothouse features a side deck access door on each side, wrap-around seating with storage, and a hi/lo double pedestal table aft (converts into a double size berth), bound carpet over teak parquet sole, Llebroc Bandera 1 helm seat, helm forward with storage under the helm, electronics as detailed in the electronics section, engine controls, bowthruster control, VDO and Aetna gauges, water tank counter gauges, and guest companionway stairs starboard forward.
The flybridge includes a bimini fore and aft (2024) of the hinged Radar arch, exterior carpet over non-skid deck, wrap-around seating with storage, a Todd helm seat, helm forward with storage underneath, electronics as detailed in the electronics section, bowthruster control, engine controls, VDO and Aetna gauges, Enrock speakers, a hatch and stairs to the pilothouse, a hatch and stainless steel & teak ladder to the aftdeck, deck storage box, BBQ grill, stainless steel rails, and tender storage with an aluminum davit.
The aftdeck features a hardtop, teak deck, lazarette access, 2 teak deck chairs and a table, a transom gate, stainless steel & teak ladder to the flybridge, teak cap rail, same-level access to each side deck, and double teak & glass doors to the salon.
