Boat Overview

PERCEPTION is a 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance, a rare blend of speed, elegance, and offshore capability. Designed by Philippe Briand, this Performance edition enhances the acclaimed Sun Odyssey 49 with a more powerful sail plan, upgraded rigging, and a hull optimized for spirited sailing without sacrificing comfort.

PERCEPTION is equipped with the sought-after Performance package, featuring a deep keel, a taller mast, and increased sail area for exceptional power and balance under sail. The sail inventory includes a Quantum Mainsail with Tides Marine Track System (2023), Genoa (2023), and Code 0 Spinnaker (2023). The rig is upgraded with Dyform® stainless-steel standing rigging and Dyneema® running rigging, minimizing stretch and maximizing control.

A fully adjustable backstay allows precise tuning, while the racing furler with twin-groove foil and removable drum supports both cruising convenience and competitive sail changes. The short racing pulpit is designed for use with an optional gennaker furler, expanding downwind capability. Under power, a Max-Prop feathering propeller reduces drag and enhances sailing efficiency.

The mainsheet traveler remains cleanly positioned on the coachroof to keep the cockpit open and uncluttered, and the Performance keel provides improved lift, stability, and upwind bite.

Accommodations

PERCEPTION features a uniquely versatile layout, offering the ability to configure the interior as a 2, 3, or even 4-cabin yacht depending on your needs. The forward section can be arranged as a spacious master suite or converted into twin cabins by reinstalling the removable longitudinal bulkhead—complete with dedicated storage for the panel beneath the berth.

Aft, the two cabins can also be combined by removing the dividing wall, creating a large owner’s stateroom and transforming the vessel into a comfortable 2-cabin layout. This modular design makes the boat exceptionally adaptable for private cruising, charter use, or accommodating larger crews.

Main Salon

The main salon aboard the 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance is a warm, open, and beautifully balanced living space designed for both comfort at anchor and practicality underway. Rich teak joinery, soft contours, and abundant natural light create an atmosphere that feels upscale yet relaxed. Large hull ports and overhead hatches flood the salon with daylight, while well-placed lighting provides a cozy ambiance in the evening.

To starboard, a spacious U-shaped settee wraps around a large dining table, offering generous seating for family meals or entertaining guests. The layout encourages easy movement throughout the cabin, with wide floor space and thoughtfully positioned handholds for safety offshore.

The galley, slightly aft and to port, is integrated into the salon without intruding on the social area—perfect for preparing meals while remaining part of the conversation. Forward, the salon flows naturally toward the adaptable cabin configurations, enhancing the sense of openness.

Galley

Positioned to port and slightly aft of the main salon, it benefits from excellent ventilation and natural light without intruding on the social space.

High-quality teak cabinetry, deep lockers, and intelligently placed drawers keep provisions and cookware organized and accessible. Heads
