PERCEPTION is a 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance, a rare blend of speed, elegance, and offshore capability. Designed by Philippe Briand, this Performance edition enhances the acclaimed Sun Odyssey 49 with a more powerful sail plan, upgraded rigging, and a hull optimized for spirited sailing without sacrificing comfort.
PERCEPTION is equipped with the sought-after Performance package, featuring a deep keel, a taller mast, and increased sail area for exceptional power and balance under sail. The sail inventory includes a Quantum Mainsail with Tides Marine Track System (2023), Genoa (2023), and Code 0 Spinnaker (2023). The rig is upgraded with Dyform® stainless-steel standing rigging and Dyneema® running rigging, minimizing stretch and maximizing control.
A fully adjustable backstay allows precise tuning, while the racing furler with twin-groove foil and removable drum supports both cruising convenience and competitive sail changes. The short racing pulpit is designed for use with an optional gennaker furler, expanding downwind capability. Under power, a Max-Prop feathering propeller reduces drag and enhances sailing efficiency.
The mainsheet traveler remains cleanly positioned on the coachroof to keep the cockpit open and uncluttered, and the Performance keel provides improved lift, stability, and upwind bite.
PERCEPTION features a uniquely versatile layout, offering the ability to configure the interior as a 2, 3, or even 4-cabin yacht depending on your needs. The forward section can be arranged as a spacious master suite or converted into twin cabins by reinstalling the removable longitudinal bulkhead—complete with dedicated storage for the panel beneath the berth.
Aft, the two cabins can also be combined by removing the dividing wall, creating a large owner’s stateroom and transforming the vessel into a comfortable 2-cabin layout. This modular design makes the boat exceptionally adaptable for private cruising, charter use, or accommodating larger crews.
The main salon aboard the 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance is a warm, open, and beautifully balanced living space designed for both comfort at anchor and practicality underway. Rich teak joinery, soft contours, and abundant natural light create an atmosphere that feels upscale yet relaxed. Large hull ports and overhead hatches flood the salon with daylight, while well-placed lighting provides a cozy ambiance in the evening.
To starboard, a spacious U-shaped settee wraps around a large dining table, offering generous seating for family meals or entertaining guests. Opposite, a comfortable straight-settee provides additional lounging space and doubles as a secure sea berth on passage. The layout encourages easy movement throughout the cabin, with wide floor space and thoughtfully positioned handholds for safety offshore.
The galley, slightly aft and to port, is integrated into the salon without intruding on the social area—perfect for preparing meals while remaining part of the conversation. Forward, the salon flows naturally toward the adaptable cabin configurations, enhancing the sense of openness.
Overall, the main salon on the Sun Odyssey 49 Performance combines Jeanneau’s signature craftsmanship with a bright, airy design that makes extended cruising feel effortless and inviting.
The galley aboard the 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance is designed with the offshore sailor in mind—secure, efficient, and exceptionally well-equipped—while still offering the warmth and refinement expected in a premium cruising yacht. Positioned to port and slightly aft of the main salon, it benefits from excellent ventilation and natural light without intruding on the social space.
This practical, U-shaped layout provides outstanding bracing points for cooking underway and maximizes both counter space and storage. High-quality teak cabinetry, deep lockers, and intelligently placed drawers keep provisions and cookware organized and accessible. The dual stainless-steel sinks, gimbaled stove/oven, and large top- and front-loading refrigeration units make meal preparation easy, whether at anchor or on passage.
Generous work surfaces, durable materials, and thoughtful ergonomics make the galley a true onboard kitchen capable of supporting extended cruising. Its proximity to the companionway also ensures excellent airflow and makes serving the salon or cockpit equally convenient.
The heads aboard the 2007 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 Performance are thoughtfully designed, bright, and highly functional—ideal for both extended cruising and life aboard. Jeanneau’s use of quality materials, smart ergonomics, and efficient layouts is evident throughout.
The forward head, accessible from the owner’s cabin area features a spacious compartment with a separate shower stall, molded surfaces for easy cleaning, and excellent ventilation through opening ports and hatches. Storage lockers and shelving provide ample space for toiletries and personal items, while the marine toilet and plumbing systems are arranged for straightforward maintenance.
The aft head, positioned conveniently near the companionway and aft cabins, offers another well-appointed space with a dedicated shower area, large mirrors, and practical cabinetry. Its location makes it ideal for use underway or as a day head for guests.
Both heads benefit from Jeanneau’s signature attention to detail: durable fixtures, good lighting, non-skid flooring, and efficient use of space that feels open without sacrificing privacy. The result is a pair of comfortable, reliable washrooms that enhance the yacht’s livability, whether cruising coastal waters or passagemaking offshore.
