Boat Overview


Wingnut is a masterfully executed example of a Kurt Hughes high-performance design, professionally built for the sailor who refuses to choose between offshore capability and blistering speed.



Construction Details



  • Extensive use of carbon fiber construction for a rigid, lightweight, and high-performance profile.

  • Key structural components include:

    • Rotating mast - carbon fiber

    • Boom - carbon fiber

    • Bowsprit - retractable 5, carbon fiber



  • Akas (cross beams) are engineered from carbon fiber over cedar strips.

  • Bulkheads, stringers, center board, and rudder are constructed of carbon fiber.

  • Hull is made of S-glass, Corecell foam core, and epoxy resin.



Quality of Build


Meticulously finished by a professional toolmaker and CNC programmer, this boat's attention to detail far surpasses standard production builds.

*Preliminary listing: the boat is currently shrink wrapped and will have more photos and video once the winter cover is removed.
