Beschreibung
The unique holiday village of Las Juntas de Miller is located in the
extreme south-east of the province of Jaen, on the border with the
province of Albacete, in the heart of the Sierra de Segura and within
the nature reserve of Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas. The village of Las
Juntas was built in the 1950s to house the workers who had been hired to
construct the Miller hydraulic station, and to supply this station with
water to the Anchuricas and Las Vieja reservoirs. The limestone
buildings, with masonry walls and roofs, are in two blocks of seven
houses each on two floors, with a third floor not in use and can be
converted into further accommodation. Each house is 170 m2 and at
present equipped for rural tourism. The owners' accommodation is a very
large two storey building with 397 m2 situated on top of a cliff higher
up in the village. The house has two staircases, reception rooms, many
bedrooms, bathrooms and other rooms. Outside is a cobbled terrace, small
pond and garden. Partially renovated in the 1990s the village stands in
62,946 m2 of land, a lot of it steep, bordering the river in two places
and has pine forest with other species of trees. The property has
copious water supply from a private spring, which has medicinal
qualities and produces 392,256 litres of water daily. With this flow
there is sufficient water for a population of 1,500 people. Two holding
tanks have capacity of 40,000 litres and receive water from the spring
with sufficient supply for the village population and watering green
areas. The village has mains electricity and its' own sewer network.
There is a church in perfect condition, swimming pool, small sports area
and bar/restaurant. There are also 20 more homes in various state of
disrepair within the village for reconstruction. There is 600 acres of
neighbouring land available to purchase. Price to be negotiated. The
landscape is stunning with steep valleys, rivers, lakes and mostly thick
forest with pines, cypress, poplar, oak, ash & olive, forming a
typical Mediterranean forest. The area is superb for hiking, walking,
climbing, rafting, canyoning and paragliding. Magnificent views of Las
Juntas can be enjoyed from the area known as Loma del Paeron where there
is a natural viewing point offering splendid panoramic views of the
valleys. Opposite are the Canas de la Muela, home to a large colony of
griffon vultures, along with the ancient Iberian settlement of Penbon de
los Almendros and the hamlet of Gontar. This area of the Sierra de
Segura has been populated by Iberians, Romans and Arabs and there are
numerous archaeological remains to be found. Las Juntas de Miller can be
reached via the JF-7038, 22 kilometres on from Santiago de la Espada.
You can also get there from Segura de la Sierra, following the road
towards Rio Madera and La Toba. It is a journey of 54 kilometres via
this route, and takes approximately one hour. This is truly a magical
area well worth the effort to discover its charms. This unique village
is looking for a new owner who will explore its vast possibilities and
potential and turn it into a highly profitable business.
