SEREN WEN is a well maintained and proven ocean crossing vessel built to a very high specification including beautiful teak interior and hydraulic sail controls.

The Hallberg-Rassy 43 is a familiar sight on the Cruising circuit and should be at the top of anybody's list who is seriously considering adopting this lifestyle.

SEREN WEN has all the equipment required for long ocean passages and is rigged to be easily managed by two people.

Offered for sale by her first owners this Hallberg-Rassy 43 is lying in commission on the Island of Gran Canaria, ready for any inspection.

Accommodation

All interior woodwork in teak. Flat locker doors with ventilation above as far as possible. Floor is varnished teak with inlaid teak strips. Saloon ceiling has panelling with mahogany strips and ceilings in remainder of boat have light lining. Cushions on all berths rest on unvarnished, well-ventilated boards to avoid condensation. Hand holds throughout. All upholstery in superior quality Deluxe Grey. The boat is carpeted throughout in blue, (Carpets New in 2018) except directly in front of the galley, press studs avoid movement. All portholes are fitted with Stone curtains (Curtains new in 2019). Stone Curtains also under the skylights, New in 2019. Mosquito nets to all skylights excl heads. One Berth fitted with lee cloth.

SALOON:
On the port side is an L-shaped sofa with curved corner that has backrests with hinges so that the space behind can be utilised as storage. On starboard side two comfortable armchairs. The armchairs can be lifted to access storage behind. All seating in saloon protected with bespoke covers. Between the settees is a table. The main saloon table with bottle stowage in centre section. Pioneer stereo radio/CD player with speakers in main saloon and Sea & Symphony speakers in cockpit. Main cabin, 19” television and DVD player Samsung. Headroom in saloon 1.97m / 6'5''.

GALLEY:
Working surface in white Corian with strong, all round fiddle rail. 12v insulated icebox with water cooled electric compressor for chilling. Deep, double sink with hot/cold mixer tap and Seagull filtered water tap for drinking. Manual fresh water foot pump. Force 10 Two burner gas cooker with oven, gimballed with fiddle rails. Crockery locker and cutlery drawer. Bread board. Stowage for saucepans and other kitchen utensils. Tristar 230v microwave oven, New 2022. Storage cupboard for bread.

FORWARD HEADS COMPARTMENT:
Bulkheads and lockers in white laminate. Teak grating, china wash basin and large mirror. Corian counter tops Separate shower with watertight shower stall, plexi glass doors. Shower water drained by 12v pump directly overboard. Pump action seatoilet. Stainless holding tank, emptied by gravity or by deck pump out. KENNY half load washing machine mounted in cupboard. Cupboard above and below washbasin. Ventilation through opening porthole and hatch.

FORWARD CABIN:
Two 2.13m/7' long berths with ample stowage above and below and in addition a number of lockers. A hatch and opening porthole. Black-out curtains. Hanging locker to starboard side.

CHART TABLE & WALKTHROUGH:
Chart table seat with spacious chart table. Shelf and space above for mounted instruments. Electric panel to the left of the navigator. 5 drawers and stowage slots. Rubber sealed 2-door access to the engine room off the walkthrough. Additional top loading Fridge/Freezer with thermostat. Good headroom in the walkthrough with headroom in the cockpit coaming. On portside there is a wet locker and various cupboards.

AFT CABIN:
Aft cabin has a hanging locker on portside and two comfortable berths. Stowage room below and above. Mirror. Seat between the berths. Mattress toppers for berths. Black-out curtains.

AFT HEADS COMPARTMENT:

BOWTHRUSTER:
Sleipner 8HP bow thruster with foot switches at steering position.

DIESEL:
395 litres in stainless steel tank, below the floor in saloon with fuel gauge. The tank is filled through deck inlet. The cruising range in calm waters is approximately 710 nautical miles.

WATER:
Water capacity is 650 litres in two tanks, the main tank under the floor holding 420 litres and the reserve tank under the settee 230 litres. There is a water gauge for the main tank. 40 litres hot water calorifier (heated by 230v and the engine's cooling water). There is a reserve foot pump in galley. Filling of water tanks is through deck inlet. There are three bilge pumps; one manual, one electric and one high capacity electric emergency submersible bilge pump. Fresh water shower at the bathing platform. Sea water deck wash pump by mast. Watermaker MT 3200 and put in long-term storage as per manufactures instructions.

ELECTRICITY:
Two separate 12v battery banks, for engine start and one for domestic use on board.
Lifeline service batteries, 840Ah, New 2021 with 5-year guarantee.

Charging of batteries is by alternator from engine and 230/100A Mastervolt battery charger, New 2021.
12v sockets at inner chart table and in the cockpit. Electric panel with circuit breakers at inner chart table, with voltmeter, water and diesel gauges. International navigation lights.

Full 230v shore power system, with Marinco inlet, shore cable and circuit breakers

Deck Equipment

Deck, coachroof, toerail, cockpit seats, cockpit floor and side trims in teak laid in silicon rubber. Also teak hand rails full length of superstructure. Teak pushpit seats. Strong stem fitting with twin integral anchor rollers. Electric windlass with footswitches on foredeck and remote and steering pedestal. Stainless steel anchor with 70m 8mm stainless steel chain. Stowage in chain locker beneath for fenders. Removeable bowsprit. Bow boarding ladder. Two cleats forward, aft and midships protective brass strips to all cleats. Double stainless lifelines with opening gates port and starboard. Deck inlets for water and diesel tanks. Genoa and mainsheet tracks with blocks. Genoa blocks adjustable from the cockpit. Electric selftailing genoa winches, Lewmar size 54 CEST, two mainsheet winches, one electric Lewmar 40 CEST, one manual Lewmar 40 CST. All winches were stripped down and full serviced in 2020. Hatches, windows, blocks and winches by Lewmar. Hatches in foredeck, toilet compartment, saloon and in aft cabin. Aft cabin hatch has hinges orientated aft. 13 aluminium framed port holes, 12 of these are opening. Stowage in aft deck lazarette locker. There is a separate gas locker on starboard side deck with stowage for two Aluminium gas cylinders. Divided bathing ladder on bathing platform. Shower at bathing platform. COCKPIT:
On starboard side is the stowage locker with storage slots for wash boards. The cockpit floor is covered with a teak grating. Three fittings for harness in cockpit. Wheel steering with single lever engine control. Cover for steering pedestal. High gloss varnished folding teak cockpit table. Panel for engine instruments in the steering pedestal. Alcove in starboard side of the cockpit coaming. Downlight for cockpit in boom. Fixed windscreen with opening centre section and sprayhood over front part of cockpit. Sprayhood extension which covers entire cockpit. Bimini with stainless frames, sides and back for blovking low sun, closable window. On both sides of sliding hatch there are useful teak covered work surfaces, ideal as chart tables, etc. Sailing instruments above sliding hatch. Sea & Symphony stereo speakers. Chart tables and washboards in varnished teak.

HULL & DECKS:

The teak decks have been well preserved throughout their life with annual application of SEMCO teak sealer. SEREN WEN's decks are impressive and have no history or plug or caulking failure.
The hull was stripped of anti-fouling 2013 and the exposed hull allowed to dry. Three coats of Gelshield plus were applied to give a waterproof barrier and provide long term security for hull and copper coat. Four coats of copper coat applied.
